Hands-on 3D printing and other maker technology workshops coming up Aug 14-15 in West LA

We are speaking at and otherwise helping out with the Design and Maker Class Colloquium at The Windward School, West LA, on August 14-15 (Fri/Sat).  The first day is aimed primarily at educators wanting to learn how to use making in their classrooms; second day is hands-on. MIT alum event Aug 4: Shop Class 2.0 in Orange County

New book available for alpha or pre-order - "3D Printing With MatterControl"

Our new book from Apress, "3D Printing With MatterControl" is now available at http://www.apress.com/9781484210567  either as an "alpha book" now (partial ebook download with rest of book available later) or preorder of the print book. Amazon has it up for preorder, too.

"Mastering 3D Printing" was written about a year ago when there were few standards, so it's more of a "why" book to help you think about how to use a printer and where to find more. Since MatterControl, from our friends at MatterHackers  has emerged since as a widely-used host program, we wrote the new book to be more of an explicit detailed guide to using host software, with some of the broader material too but more of a focus on just exactly how to get a print. We are excited!

At the Discovery Cube in Orange County July 12

We'll be at the Discovery Cube of Orange County in Santa Ana (that big black cube visible from the 5 freeway) from 11 AM to 4 PM on Sunday, July 12.

Come on down and see our demonstrations of 3D printing and using wearable circuits.  Our friends from Windward School will be along too with some of the 3D models developed by their physics students. More info/directions:

Joan and Rich signing books at Deezmaker in Pasadena Sunday July 5

Rich (aka Whosawhatsis) and I are looking forward to signing our new book, "The New Shop Class: Getting Started with 3D Printing, Arduino, and Wearable Tech"  at Deezmaker's 3D printer shop and hackerspace. Deezmaker will have the book available.

They have an open house Sunday, July 5, from noon-5, and we will be there at least the first two hours.

Joan and Rich at the LA (Sylmar area) Discovery Cube Saturday June 27th

We are going to be at the LA  Discovery Cube up near Sylmar next Saturday (the 27th) from 11-4 doing demos, with a talk at 1:00 - come by and see what we've been up to! We will have some projects on display from our friends at Windward School, too.
